About The Website
SanatanaDharma.in is being developed as a resource to help individuals learn about Sanātana Dharma and begin integrating its teachings into their lives through small, meaningful steps. The website presents the teachings of Sanātana Dharma drawn from multiple original source texts. It begins with a few major and accepted texts that form the foundation of the tradition.
Although the Vedas are the origin and source of all these teachings, they are not the focus at this stage. Vedic study requires careful engagement under the guidance of a qualified teacher, as its meanings are subtle and nuanced. Without proper training, there is a high risk of misinterpretation or taking passages out of context. For this reason, the site initially concentrates on texts that are rooted in the Vedas, such as the Purāṇas, Dharmaśāstra, Itihāsa, and classical philosophical literature (darśana).
If you are new to the teachings of Sanātana Dharma, the content on this site is sufficient to help you take your first steps. As your understanding grows, the teachings themselves will naturally guide you toward deeper inquiry, creating the right conditions and motivations at the appropriate time.
The site places emphasis on faithful and structured presentation of material. Sanskrit verses are provided along with accurate transliteration and literal translation. Commentary content, where included, is sourced directly from traditional authors, such as Śrīdhara Svāmī, and is clearly marked and referenced. Interpretative or speculative content is deliberately avoided.
All content is referenced directly to the original Sanskrit source texts. Each verse is tagged with an exact identifier, allowing readers to trace the context and consult multiple commentaries if they wish to explore further. This is especially helpful for those with some familiarity or prior exposure to the tradition, who wish to expand their knowledge in a structured manner.
Content is organised in multiple ways to assist navigation:
- By textual source (e.g., Bhāgavata Purāṇa)
- By topic or theme (e.g., qualities of seekers, duties of householders)
- By depth, offering material suitable both for newcomers and those seeking more detailed commentarial insight
The site is being developed using a transparent structure, ensuring long-term stability and clarity. It is built to be minimalistic, supporting text-focused learning. Feedback and suggestions for improving clarity, accuracy, or structure are welcome and may be incorporated as the site evolves.
SanatanaDharma.in is not a replacement for learning under a teacher, nor does it attempt to authoritatively represent any single school or tradition. Its purpose is to serve as a faithful, structured, and accessible introduction to the wealth of teachings that Sanātana Dharma offers.
